Is "Bain investor" one who invests for Bain or with Bain?

Bain investor could be someone who works at Bain and invests, or manages investments for Bain.

Bain investor could be someone who invests with Bain.

Either could know Mitt through other functions. Which would be more likely to have access to his returns for 10 years? Or do they just know from Mitt's boasting?
