It is fair to say America is moving away from democracy towards fascism.
Apathy is in place. Most Americans cannot recognize fascism. Most Americans don't know what the hell is going on. Most Americans vote against their best interests and rights. They empower the rich , politicians who control their lives. They vote to weaken themselves. They vote to destroy unions and then vote for citizens united. The working people of America have been voting against themselves at a suicidal rate for decades.
Propaganda is place. Most Americans cannot tell the difference between the truth and a lie. That means they are owned.
Many Americans follow unconditionally. Blind following. That is the most dangerous thing people can do. They let the people they are following to have complete control of their fate.
False patriotism is in place. Stand for the national anthem or leave the country. MAGA. That is the playbook of fascism
People here know this could end badly. The problem is most Americans have no idea what the fuck they are doing. They don't know they are in danger. They think they are winning.
This November we have an election, the Mueller report will come out around that time period. There will be a big battle when that happens. Will we choose democracy or fascism?

(2,187 posts)The people who aren't following the news are the ones who are struggling just to get by and are only worries about money, food, rent, etc , and are just not paying attention. Drumpf talked about jobs, so they voted for him in the hopes of having more money. When the new Tax Scam Bill starts taking MORE money from them to give to the wealthy, maybe they'll learn then ....OR Maybe it'll be too late already.
Everyday people have to stop being sheeple, think for themselves and see the world as it is.

Don't tell me we most of us blind follow, or any of the other insults tossed at "most Americans." Some do, many may depending. But to put it mildly, I find this blanket fear no wiser or more insightful than someone explaining what's wrong with "most" members of minorities, also a product of unreasoned fear.
The one thing that really pings with me among all this overdone contempt for "most," is "Most Americans cannot recognize fascism." In spite of what sometimes happens in smaller municipalities, we have no experience with it. A lot of people who use the word, especially conservatives, have no idea that it is an archconservative ideology, the very antithesis of the liberal principles our nation is founded on. That is a grave weakness, I agree.
