Combine fundy religion, Texas GOP politics, and blithering stupidity...

And you get Louie Gohmert.

Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX) on Wednesday railed against the Obama administration’s contraception mandate and said the United States could not succeed without God.

He said the new Health & Human Services Department rule — which requires most employers to provide free birth control coverage in their health insurance policies — was like prohibiting Jews from worshiping on the Sabbath or banning communion. Some Catholics oppose the new rule, and the HHS has vowed to make “common-sense accommodations for values like religious liberty.”

I suspect that the entire reason for the rule in the first place was to make sure fundies could not deny people birth-control based on their insane religious ideas.

Maybe he should choose the path he needs to travel and leave the rest of us alone. Is he going to provide the means for all the children to thrive who are born as a result of his decision to do away with birth control? I doubt he would even consider something like that.

But one thing I do know is that the GOP is most certainly WITHOUT GOD.
