(51,729 posts)shopping bags since Jan...not easy! I also taught my students about recycling for over 15 years. They love doing it! My first graders picked up the tiniest pieces of trash all over the school site with such joy and energy. It was like a treat for them. They wanted to do it in place of going to recess! We recycled paper every year and even they knew that plastic and polystyrene (they could spell it) would never "turn back into dirt"/decompose in thousands of years. This book (recycling by Gail Gibbons) was fantastic and I highly rec to adults who want to teach kids about recycling.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
