Is it a coincidence that the six "most popular Senators" (among their OWN constituents, not outside their states) are from the smallest and whitest states?

(67,782 posts)....separate polls for each state.
"In each poll, Americans indicated whether they approve or disapprove of the job performance of President Donald Trump, their states governor, both of their U.S. senators, their member of Congress and their mayor (if they live in a city with more than about 10,000 residents). For each question, they could answer strongly approve, somewhat approve, somewhat disapprove, strongly disapprove, or dont know / no opinion."
They did not rate any Senators from other states.
That Morning Consult poll for which you provided the link is also from July of last year, more than nine months ago.

Morning Consult obtained an up-to-date list of governors, senators and representatives from Sunlight Foundations Congress API v3 and Open States API and obtained a list of mayors from the United States Conference of Mayors. Survey respondents were assigned to their appropriate governor and senators based on their state of residence, assigned to their member of Congress based on a combination of zip code, IP address, latitude and longitude, and assigned to their mayor based on their state and zip code."

(67,782 posts)Senator and State Rank w/respect to population and % white constitency.
BERNIE SANDERS (I-VT) 49th (2nd LEAST populous) 1st
PATRICK LEAHY (D-VT) 49th, 1st
JOHN BARRASSO (R-WY) 50th, 6th
MICHAEL ENZI (R-WY) 50th, 6th
ANGUS KING (I-ME) 42nd, 3rd
SUSAN COLLINS (R-ME) 42nd, 3rd
JOHN THUNE (R-SD) 46th, 10th
BRIAN SCHATZ (D-HI) 40th, 50th
THOMAS CARPER (D-DE) 45th, 33rd
RON WYDEN (D-OR) 27th, 20th
JOHN HOEVEN (R-ND) 47th, 8th
Ron Wyden's "popularity" is much more impressive than any of the others in the top 10 - he has a lot more people to keep happy and a much more diverse constituency.

(26,385 posts)The latest Harvard-Harris poll, conducted between October 14 and October 18, affirms that voters are increasingly favoring Sen. Bernie Sanders and progressivism while President Donald Trumps favorability continues its downward spiral.
Sanders total favorability in this latest poll is 53 percent, and it is highest among hispanics (66 percent) and African-Americans (77 percent). His numbers dwarf other leading politicians on the left and right, including Hillary Clinton, Sen. Elizabeth Warren, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, and Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer. Donald Trumps unfavorable ratings were the highest of any politician included at 56 percent. Only 37 percent of respondents view Sanders unfavorably.

(67,782 posts)Methodology (you should read Page 1 of your poll):
"Results were weighted for age within gender, region, race/ethnicity, marital status, household size, income, employment, political party, political affiliation, and education where necessary to align them with their actual proportions in the population. Propensity score weighting was also used to adjust for respondents propensity to be online."
Why would an "objective poll" need to have the results weighted for ANY factor?
Also, other than being six months old, that poll only allows respondents to rate the following few people, there isn't even an "other" option:
Bernie Sanders
Mike Pence
Donald Trump
Hillary Clinton - out of politics
Elizabeth Warren
Rex Tillerson - fired by trump
Nancy Pelosi
Paul Ryan - resigning
Chuck Schumer
Jeff Sessions
Bob Corker - resigning
Stephen Bannon - fired by trump
Mitch McConnell
Quite an all-inclusive group there. Since some were talking about Sanders being the "most popular" Senator, where are the other 95 Senators, including Cory Booker, Sherrod Brown, Kamala Harris, Tim Kaine?
Where are Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Martin O'Malley, Andrew Cuomo, Deval Patrick, Joseph Kennedy III, or even Oprah Winfrey?
Seems like another "objective" poll gone awry.

(26,385 posts)You are welcome to your opinion but poll after poll says the same thing. You can harp and harp about white population but the numbers have been consistent.
George II
(67,782 posts)..."poll after poll" (actually only two) say the same thing, but when one digs into the methodology of each one see that both are seriously flawed.
One allows respondents to rate only their own two Senators (you didn't address that, wonder why?)
One allows respondents to rate only a select, incongruous select set of "politicians" (some not even politicians and some out of politics)
This now is the third poll (with no link or methodology) posted in this discussion that is at least six month old or more. Why not post a current, truly objective and all-inclusive poll? There has to be a reason.
Am I keeping you awake?

(26,385 posts)Debunked doesnt mean what you apparently think it means.
Youve had ample opportunity to post your own non debunked polls. But you havent. Why is that?
Tired? Nah. Just bored.
Not sure why you get such heartburn over the fact a guy who has voted and caucused with The Democratic Party is so popular.
I dont know if you are aware of this but he is on the Senate Democratic Leadership.
Its true. Look it up.
George II
(67,782 posts)You're 100% right, I have had opportunity to post my own non-debunked polls showing Sanders as the most popular Senator / Politician. But I couldn't find any.
There's another one you like to throw out (about the 10th time in response to me):
"I dont know if you are aware of this but he is on the Senate Democratic Leadership." Yet you still can't articulate what his role in that "Senate Democratic Leadership" position.

Perhaps you are unfamiliar with the parameters of the Morning Consult poll? It measures popularity of a Senator among their own constituents - which logically is always highest where the population is small and very, very homgenous.
