(116,464 posts)That silly comment got way more attention than it deserved, and Conyers' vote proves that.
The speculation is going to be driven by those who want to stir up anti-Obama sentiments, and an issue like Social Security is easy to demagogue.

(8,571 posts)I'm amazed at how these rumors don't need anything but un-named sources and conjecture. People complain about the media all the time, but will run with un-named source quotes if it fits their view. Corporate media is in this for the dollars, when are people going to learn?

(37,573 posts)Can I get some magic beans and ocean front property in Kansas with that too?
Well, Conyers. like almost everybody else pretty much HAD to vote for the piece of shit payroll tax cut, after the President and the M$M went on full hype for it.
It is just unfucking beliveable to me that we went from a massive victory in 2008 to now having an electoral choice between Romeny and motherfucking Simpson fucking Bowles.
If anybody owes an apology it is the a$$holes promoting Simpson fucking Bowles.
SunsetDreams
(8,571 posts)President Obama has a name too and it's not "motherfucking Simpson fucking Bowles"
Simpson-Bowles
hfojvt
(37,573 posts)which you seem to think is a robust defense of Obama
"And as long as we are on the subject of the poor and Social Security, is Congressman Conyers simply unaware that the President's plan - the much derided Fiscal Commission's plan"
A vote for Obama IS a vote for motherfucking Simpson fucking Bowles.
Or does that NOT say that Obama's plan IS the much derided (and rightly so) Fiscal Commission plan?
Because it sure looks to me like it does.
And if that is true, then as far as I am concerned, Obama's name is mud.

(8,571 posts)By Executive Order. The report was submitted in 2010, it failed to gain enough votes in it's own commission.

hfojvt
(37,573 posts)that a$$holes, morons and sell-outs can't promote identical legislation or plans based on the stupid ideas presented in that report.
For example, a dickwad like David Brooks is still touting the greatness of Simpson-Bowles and bemoaning the sad, sad political fact that Democrats are just too partisan and childish to vote for such a sensible adult compromise as Simpson-Bowles.
Again, it was YOUR link which put Obama in the same camp as Brooks.
Or are you refudiating that part of what you posted?
SunsetDreams
(8,571 posts)you keep making a big deal out the term "derided". Rumors and innuendo haven't helped that one bit. I'm not going to refudiate anything, the article speaks for itself with links to back it up. THERE IS NO cuts to SS benefits.
You bring up Simpson-Bowles which never got out of the gate, members appointed by the President AND Congress. A report was issued and it failed to pass period. The commission was terminated. It failed.
