what can we do to encourage those four colleges to reconsider and provide Hogg with an acceptance letter?
I mean, really, this young man has proven his character.

(1,294 posts)He has a wide range of college choices.

(40,209 posts)He wasn't rejected from the University of California schools because of his character. He was rejected because he is not a resident of California, was competing for a space in a very small pool allotted to out of state students, and wasn't chosen because there were other students that the admissions committee thought were more deserving of acceptance.
Hogg doesn't strike me as the type of person who would want to be accepted for the reason he was a student at Parkland.
He was accepted to several other schools, including CalPoly.

(7,220 posts)I believe he got admitted to three other schools as well, one in FLA. He'll be just fine.

(2,315 posts)Yes, David already received several good university acceptances, but it was at the bottom of the article quoted and obviously Ingraham did not have the attention span to read the entire article. Nor did whichever copywriter who crafted the inaccurate title to the article.
I agree Cal Poly is an excellent school and probably a great fit for him.
We all need to keep demanding her sponsors cancel ads on her program.

There are more of us than them.
Boycott their advertisers. Vote with your dollar. It's the only "conscience" a for-profit organization maintains.

(62,411 posts)IIRC UCLA was the only one that rejected Mr. Hogg.

(40,209 posts)rejected him. UCLA, Santa Barbara, and San Diego. Hogg put that in a statement. It doesn't matter, he has the choice of several other good schools.

My mistake - can't remember where I saw it.

(4,066 posts)Terrible idea. We have neither the experience nor the qualifications to go about telling colleges who to accept and who to reject.
I think he is an awesome young man but just because he has gotten some well-deserved notoriety as of late does not mean I know better than the admissions departments do about all of his qualifications.

(46,703 posts)Wouldn't even know how that would work out. But, people do send letters of recommendation with their applications.
The point is moot. I think everyone has contributed good information to this post to resolve the issue. Cal Polytechnic is a great school.

some other place,
some other event.
We'll get all excited about the next "shiny object".
And then the next, etc.
