(51,626 posts)Since so many are "older" citizenz then it is up to us to help the younger citizens out! They can't do it alone. They have already begun to live up tho their word and get people to "VOTE THEM OUT"!
The students and communities who support stricter gun legislation are encouraging citizens to call and arrange town halls in your district on April 7th (before they head back to DC). They organized a site with help from Town Hall Project (Town Hall For Our Lives).
These young people are getting people registered to vote and are going through the legislative process for change and on April 7, theyre calling for every member of Congress to hold a town hall.

If your local legislator refuses to come for whatever reason, simply invite their opponent, Hogg told us. It's as simple as that.

Town Hall Project empowers constituents across the country to have face-to-face conversations with their elected representatives. We are campaign veterans and first time volunteers. We come from a diversity of backgrounds and live across the country. We share progressive values and believe strongly in civic engagement. We research every district and state for public events with members of Congress. Then we share our findings to promote participation in the democratic process.
This movement is diverse, open source, and powered by citizens. We are proud to be a part of it.

(9,353 posts)He is thrilled to dump on the fact that it was 10% 18 and under.
See, it wasnt a childrens march.
Other than his wing nuttiness he is a perfectly nice person.
Sigh.

(49,033 posts)The more young people involved the better, of course, especially if they can be convinced to vote.
And it is very telling that the marchers are well educated.

(3,469 posts)... from adults who can vote. Not sure why any wing nut would be happy about that. Getting voters to come out and support their cause was the whole point.

(24,259 posts)and young people under 18 often need an adult to help get them to something like this, I'd say 10% is actually pretty good.

(54,436 posts)People getting involved who have never been involved to that degree before: THAT is what, if the momentum carries through to November, will swing the tide back to us.

(146,325 posts)My wife was in Florida on a "girls' spring break" trip. Her sister lives there, and runs a sign business. So, all of them went to the Ft. Meyer's march, with a bunch of professionally made large foam core signs. They handed signs out to kids who didn't have a sign, and participated in the protest there. Average age of the group was 62. Five women, supporting the students and others.
She brought one of the signs home. It's in our front window, where it will stay until something is done. It reads:
Changing Nothing
Solves
Nothing!
