.@MarcoRubio-Can you please explain this $1,000,000 contribution to your super PAC from a Russian billionaire who made billions off Russian oil? How many meetings did you have before you got this million dollar check? What did you offer in return? Floridians deserve answers.

(31,989 posts)Of course the problem will be whether or not we can we convince enough Americans that an American politician taking money from our enemy, as a bribe, is a bad thing.

(1,153 posts)From what I can find he has British and US citizenship. Either way it shows you how powerful the Oil and Gas lobby is and how much they are willing to pay to play.
The concern should be that dark money has too much influence on our elections and elected officials and we can stay on the path that we are on seeing the normalization of corruption in the US or we can cry enough is enough

(31,989 posts)They have been working on this outcome for decades, nothing surprise me. If they figured out a way to avoid that law, that would not surprise me.
However, we are under attack from our enemy , Russia and the GOP is committing treason and helping them.

(31,989 posts)new name, which is Putin propaganda to do so) are here in our country, working in many many areas.
Politicians, media talking heads or hosts, IT companies, voting precincts.
Now some are people who were compromised over time, not starting out as trained agents.
But until we start to admit this and actually SUSPECT the people who should be suspected, we will live in denial.

(28,270 posts)The whole f***in party is bought and paid for by a hostile foreign government, Russia of course!
The whole right wing propaganda fake news apparatus in this country is also in bed with Putin and that includes the religious right as well!
They stole the election with the help of Facebook and Cambridge Analytica, bankrolled by Mercer and run by Bannon!
This is a fascist right wing COUP!!!!
I pray to God we can make it to the midterms and defeat all these millions of traitors at the ballot box.
But seeing the lengths they have gone through to subvert the rule of law and our democratic elections already....what other still hidden people, events and processes will the right throw against us before the most important election in US history???

(1,153 posts)Donald Trump and the political action committees for Mitch McConnell, Marco Rubio, Scott Walker, Lindsey Graham, John Kasich and John McCain accepted $7.35 million in contributions from a Ukrainian-born oligarch who is the business partner of two of Russian president Vladimir Putin's favorite oligarchs and a Russian government bank.
snip...
Blavatnik's relationships with Russian oligarchs close to Putin, particularly Oleg Deripaska, should be worrisome for Trump and the six GOP leaders who took Blavatnik's money during the 2016 presidential campaign. Lucky for them no one has noticed. Yet.
Oleg Deripaska is the founder and majority owner of RUSAL, the world's second largest aluminum company, based in Russia. Len Blavatnik owns a significant stake in RUSAL and served on its Board until November 10, 2016, two days after Donald Trump was elected.

(7,006 posts)Rubio was not scheduled to re-run for his seat while "Running for President" in 2016. At the last minute when it was beyond obvious he was not going to receive the GOP Nomination, he flip-flopped on his earlier statement.
The Date of this Receipt is 2/16/2018. Let's Follow When Rubio Dropped Out of His "Race for President"...
Rubio gives up on Senate: He hates it - Washington Post - OCTOBER 25, 2015
I dont know that hate is the right word, Rubio said in an interview. Im frustrated.
This year, as Rubio runs for president, he has cast the Senate the very place that cemented him as a national politician as a place hes given up on, after less than one term. Its too slow. Too rule-bound. So Rubio, 44, has decided not to run for his seat again. Its the White House or bust.
Thats why Im missing votes. Because I am leaving the Senate. I am not running for reelection, Rubio said in the last Republican debate, after Donald Trump had mocked him for his unusual number of absences during Senate votes.
BUT REMEMBER -- Marco Rubio "Changed His Mind". When did this happened....
Marco Rubio will seek Senate reelection, reversing pledge not to run | Washington Post | JUNE 22, 2016
Rubio (R-Fla.) issued a lengthy statement explaining his decision to reverse course, citing the Senates power to act as a check and balance on the excesses of a president as a central reason.
Control of the Senate may very well come down to the race in Florida, he said. That means the future of the Supreme Court will be determined by the Florida Senate seat. It means the future of the disastrous Iran nuclear deal will be determined by the Florida Senate seat. It means the direction of our countrys fiscal and economic policies will be determined by this Senate seat. The stakes for our nation could not be higher.
And Where Was Marco Rubio In The GOP "Presidential Race" Polls on or around February 16, 2016... Well...
Rubio was in THIRD PLACE, Behind Ted Cruz and Donald Trump, According To The Quinnipiac February 16, 2018 -- POLL
So Here IS THE QUESTION... Was MARCO RUBIO $$$$ PAID By the RUSSIANS To DROP OUT of the PRESIDENTIAL RACE and RE-RUN for The Florida SENATE SEAT, Instead?
