Arnold Schwarzenegger Says the GOP Is 'Dying': 'I See It Like the Titanic'

In the past, action superstar and former Republican Governor of California Arnold Schwarzenegger had said that that the GOP had a problem at the box office. During a conversation with CNN’s Michael Smerconish, the Terminator star expanded on those comments while stating that he feels the party is sinking.

“Well you know I told the Republican party at the Republican convention, it was like 10 years ago that they were dying at the box office,” he told Smerconish. “The reason why I said it was because their policies were such that they were not really including everybody.”

He went on to say the GOP is losing women voters because they don’t address issues like the environment, education and health care. The actor added that he has tried to tell the party that it is killing the GOP to be so anti-health care.

“Since then the party has decreased and now has only a 26 percent popularity overall and so it is dying and I see it like the Titanic,” he noted. “The only thing is that we don’t have to go under completely. We don’t have to wait for that moment. Let’s change and let’s go and be more open and go back to this kind of like big tent idea of Ronald Reagan.”
