Elizabeth Warren: 'I am Not Running For President in 2020'

by Justin Baragona | 10:08 am, March 11th, 2018

At his campaign rally in Pennsylvania last night, President Donald Trump took aim at Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA), tossing out his favorite nickname for her — Pocahontas — while mocking the idea of running against her in 2020.

During an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union, Warren addressed both Trump’s insistence on using the slur against and whether she would be tossing her hat in the 2020 ring. As far as a presidential run, the Massachusets lawmaker poured cold water on that possibility.

“I am not running for president in 2020,” she told guest host Jim Acosta before offering insight into her family’s history and the controversy over her Native American heritage.

“My mother and dad were born and raised in Oklahoma,” Warren stated. “My father fell in love with my mother when they were both still teenagers. And he was just head over heels over her but his family was bitterly opposed to their relationship because she was part Native American.”

Of course Warren is not running for president in 2020 -- right now -- she is running for re-election to the Senate in 2018 -- right now. After November, 2018 she may have another answer.

It plays out the same every time.

"Senator, are you running in 2020?"
"Right now, I'm running to be Senator for the people of ____"
"Yes. I know you're saying that. But lots of people say that and then later run for President, so you can understand why I'm asking?"
"I'm running for Senate."

Its a waste of time. If they run, we'll hear about it.

I’m sure she will continue not to be until she is, if she does.
