Keep an eye on deep red states this November

There are a lot of deep red states out there with no marquee contest to keep Republicans' attention. Add Democratic energy and we could see surprising gains on the local and state legislative levels. The states I have in mind include Idaho, South Dakota, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Utah, Iowa, Wyoming and Alaska.

1. West Virginia may be a surprise as well.

The teachers' strike is bringing out some long buried anger. And it's the Republican state senate that is being painted as the bully by the 20,000 teachers.

There are more teachers than coal miners. I'm hoping for good news in November!
