(9,353 posts)Its nice that we have a bunch of conservatives coming into the tent. Not sure how long they will last.

(5,210 posts)with him on policy. But on Trump? Oh, yeah. In spades. I relish seeing him come on MSNBC as one of the panelists. Him and Frum too. Also Steve Schmidt, Rick Wilson, Evin Mullen, and esp. Jennifer Rubin. ALL of them conservatives, ALL of them principled enough to absolutely despise Trum and ALL of them articulate and insightful enough to bury him day by day by day.

(22,037 posts)With Trump's ascension to the White House, (I will never refer to him with the title), everything has been turned upside down and inside out.
I find myself agreeing with people like Bill Kristol, Ana Navarro, Max Boot and even George Will. There are some Republicans who suddenly seem like reasonable people that Democrats could work with. These include Senator Corker, Governor Kasich and even Mona Charen.
I'm confident that this is an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" kind of moment. Nonetheless, it's an odd feeling to be in agreement with my former father-in-law, an Eisenhower Republican who is embarrassed and disgusted by Trump.

(9,353 posts)I, who am a centrist Democrat, find it amazing that there are so many conservative republicans who are jumping on the bandwagon.
Expect them to jump off as soon as its safe.

(22,037 posts)During the last years of World War Two, the U.S. and the Soviet Union were allied against Germany. Similar weirdness.
Of course, the Cold War followed and the U.S. and the U.S.S.R./Russia have been adversaries ever since then.
In the meantime, I'm happy with any allies in removing Trump and his criminal gang.
