measures that huge majorities of Americans support. Always have been.

Thing is that there are a small number of very vocal, well trained, well funded trolls who are doing the bidding of the NRA and the gun industry to block those measures.

Some of these people are here.

You know them because their conversations always follow the same path. They demand that you list the gun control measures that you support. Then they gish-gallop their way through those with fallacies and false equivalencies ("What about Chicago?!!" "It's not a clip, it's a magazine. You don't even know what you're talking about!" "It's not a magazine its a clip. You don't even know what you're talking about!" ) so they can get to their goal in asking the question to begin with: they need to be able to tell you that nothing can be done, nothing will work, and you just need to accept the proliferation of their well-humped guns.

They will also denigrate you for being angry and suggest that it is irrational. It is not. It is the only rational response to the insanity they are spreading. Hold your anger. Hold it tight and throw it at them whenever they try this shit with you. You've earned it.

My recommendation: the gun control measures that vast majorities of Americans support are known to us all. If those trollish assholes ask for a list, do not engage. They know what the measures are. The conversation is a dead end.

Enough talk. It's time to make a loud roar and demand action.

The fact that we had an assault weapon ban demonstrates common ground exists, and has for a long time.

encouraging. I'm hoping the student demonstrations discussed around the nation materialize, because attention to the students speaking out so far do make this seem as if it could be a watershed moment. Notably, the MSM has been talking it up, helping it catch fire if it does.

So good to hear about the anger in those NRA members. I've also wondered if the general right-wing unease with what their party is doing might result in their breaking away to take a stand on this one issue at least. Maybe fanciful thinking. I read too much political stuff, but hope, hope.

Good luck with your campaign. Just wish someone like you was a choice in our blood-red district.
