Rjukan: The town that needs giants mirrors to see the sun for six months every year

It's nestled between two towering Norwegian mountains, a few hours west of Oslo.

Snow slowly falls on the surrounding peaks and frozen waterfalls glisten in the weak afternoon twilight, while far below on the valley floor the lights of the town twinkle.

The landscape has long inspired mythical tales of trolls — it looks like something straight out of a fairytale.

But, according to a local artist, this tiny picturesque place has long had a big problem.

he ought to try dressing for the weather. No hat, nothing around the neck, sheesh. It was 21 deg F today in the Twin Cities, and we think we're having a heat wave.

Yesterday it was getting up to 48C (118F) in Sydney.

I used to live in Darwin (way up north, not too far from the equator). I'd complain about the cold when it dropped below 25C (77F).

or jacket, always a short-sleeve shirt. I can only think of a very few times in several years where I felt a bit chilly.
