(63,221 posts)I've pretty much had it with winter already and we have 3 more months of this.

(46,179 posts)at 9:53. Yesterday's high was fucking 58 degrees.
This, in a region that often doesn't get out of the 20s for weeks, and hits regular lows in the teens, the single digits and below zero during the winter.
Last winter we had more snow than had been seen since '91. Roofs caved in, trees were downed, and schools were closed for more days than the last five years combined. We always have snow, varying from year to year; 6 inches, a foot...not the avalanche we endured for December and January last year.
This year, we've had a grand total of half an inch...last weekend.

(31,612 posts)We had some days of wind chill in the teens the last few days.
Colder weather returning next week with highs in the 30's and lows in the teens (not wind chill).
I'm at the beach in Emerald Isle, NC. This is much colder than normal weather here for this time of year. It's not balmy in the winter--usually
40-50 ish daytime and 30's at night.

(8,692 posts)I really felt like we had dodged a bullet in Alberta this winter since it was pleasant well into December but now we're getting it.
I would be home in California did I not have friends coming to visit.

(34,164 posts)My husband and I drove down to St Marks for a hike. We had planned to go on New Year's Day but the forecast was for drizzling with a high of 4- F. Now that has changed to sunny & 46 F. Maybe we'll go back!

(20,515 posts)I'm glad we will be getting a hard freeze. When we don't the mosquitoes are much worse the following summer.
