Per an article on Raw Story the British government is afraid that inviting the Obamas to the royal wedding will piss off Trump. May is concerned that it will adversely effect her efforts to engage with Trump in a meaningful way. Now we all know that no one can engage with that fucking idiot.
In fact I hope they never let him visit Great Britain. He won't go now because the British population hates him.

(10,054 posts)The Obamas will be embraced with affection and respect by the Brits while the trumpys will be spat upon and met with contempt and ridicule. For the whole world to see. It's a lil over the top, I know 😃

(6,384 posts)it's quite likely that an invitation to the Obamas could cause him to throw a hissy fit and threaten to derail any trade deal, because he really is that crazy.
But that's no reason not to invite the Obamas, who are personal friends of Harry, to what is not a state occasion, but a private one.
And it would be such fun to watch Trump implode.

(207,516 posts)After 1.8 million citizens signed a petition to rescind the invitation. Apparently a petition with over 100,000 signatures is considered worthy of debate in Parliament. There were also protests outside that could be heard in the chamber.

(7,303 posts)needs to remember the royalty are only figureheads and never interfere with governance so those that govern should give the same respect to those that they dont even give a vote to.

(58,785 posts)his history of vicious vengefulness. This isn't just about about England. He's working up a long list of grudges against the American people, and everything is fuel on his fires.
He loves to kick people in the teeth at the best of times, and he's capable of hurting us, through both huge and petty actions. Would he be repeatedly bragging about "repealing" the ACA if he didn't feel betrayed by his people? Last summer he might well have refused to sign it. No more.
Not pushing this man too far is very sensible.
