Pic Of The Moment - A question/comment

I've been thinking about the Pic Of The Moment and I think it's vastly underutilized.

I assume this was launched as a feature/benefit for the existing members. Some clever bit of content for us to see and appreciate.
It activates the front page of the site and is often clever. So kudos to staff for an effective addition to the site!

That said, I wondered if the staff see the potential power of the Pic Of The Moment.

However, a big (new) tool of the Alt-Right has been "memes" and the Pick of the Moment seems to be well executed for our consumption, but poorly executed for Meme impact. It's usually a very complex image with several photos and a wall of text. That makes perfect sense if the audience for this is us.... visitors to a message board where what we do when we are here is read.

But I think the following changes can make this a much more powerful feature.

-- Use best practices (to make them powerful and shareable)
-- Discretely tag each image with a DU logo/url (to help bring new traffic back to the site)
-- Make them easy to share on social media (to make help get these out into the "wild&quot

I guess I'm proposing that the staff shift the purpose of the Pic of the Moment from fresh content for existing members to shareable and powerful viral content for attracting new members and influence the world at large and having DU be known as a powerful source of such influence.

I'm creating a poll to get a measure of the community feedback on this suggestion. That's more helpful that just my opinion, so please vote. Thanks!

I regularly share these images today on my social media, but think I would share more or it would be more effective these sorts of changes

I'm not on Facebook or Twitter. This is where my friends are and I feel comfortable here.

I understand that you're encouraging people to share the stuff they see here with others and it's a great idea. Be sure to give credit to our website. By the way, there is an outside portal for non-members, and they can see the home page and most of the main articles but they aren't allowed to comment until signing in (or joining DU.)

It's called lurking, and I lurked here for a few months until I decided to join.

content on DU is content for the "choir". We are always "yes" Dem votes. And this site is a tiny drop in the bucket of active users. And has the potential to have an even greater impact.

I always retreet from Twitter, or sometimes I'll Tweet it out from DU.

I have several times sent these wonderful nuggets (via Twitter) directly to Trump, or some other GOP liar out there.

As far as I know, each one includes DU's website.

I love, love, love EarlG's humor!
