A great quote from The International
Umberto Calvini: The IBBC is a bank. Their objective isn't to control the conflict, it's to control the debt that the conflict produces. You see, the real value of a conflict, the true value, is in the debt that it creates. You control the debt, you control everything. You find this upsetting, yes? But this is the very essence of the banking industry, to make us all, whether we be nations or individuals, slaves to debt.

Everyone should watch this movie

4. It doesn't take a bank to put you in debt. Look at the US.
But the same thing applies. Those who own your debt own you.

11. And to some degree, on some occasions, vice versa:
The creditor, when they hold an enormous amount of debt from one borrower, can sometimes seek to make certain that the debtor succeeds.

5. Yes - good movie
And Clive Owen is perfect in that role.

I think this is what John Perkins (economic hit man) was assigned to do also - create debt and slave states for the US. Or rather, US bankers.

7. What they don't realize though is that it gives
the working class ANOTHER weapon in the class war. True it's not like NATIONAL debt, but it's something.

Now we can not only withhold our labor, but we can withhold our debt repayment too.

8. And then they killed him.
I posted this quote probably six months ago after seeing the movie for the second or third time. I love this flick. Very telling about how the world works, especially at the end.
