Democrats should be celebrating today...
simply for the fact that the Repubs are tearing their hair out. They were taken aback by the President's speech yesterday.

Whether we agree with the President or not, we should all agree that is good to see the Repubs in such disarray and screaming about the President calling them names, etc. Can you believe that? They are angry that the President called them "un-American" (In fact, he called their plan "un-American") But nonetheless, Democrats should be celebrating the damage the President inflicted on these assholes.

Instead, we are debating about whether there are going to be any actions following his speech. To be honest, there will be nothing if our Democrats in the House and Senate do not get on board. If they continue to act and talk as they have for the last few years, no President can save us.

For me personally, I relish this day. I have not seen such discomfort and confusion in the Republican Party in a long time. And that alone, is quite an accomplishment.

2. They are so thin skinned. They easily dish it out like cowards
with all their name calling and disrespect of the President. I guess they expected President Obama to keep "turning the other cheek".

Too bad this wasn't televised during prime time.

4. They accuse the President of being born in Kenya...
and they call him a "socialist" and worse. Yet, they are angry that the President is calling them "names"? :-) What a whiny bunch!

8. Paul Ryan looked like someone took away his candy bar
All those "young guns" are a bunch of whiny, immature, wannabe bullies. I can't wait for the 2012 GOP primary either, let the circus begin!

6. I haven't heard the republicans this angry in a long time.
Edited on Thu Apr-14-11 02:08 PM by Solomon
Personally, I think they got snookered and they know it. Of course, nobody here thinks that way.

Obama outsmarted them big time. It's funny hearing them cry about how the republicans have no spine, how they folded without a fight, etc. Sounds eerily similar to what you see here all the time.

The tables have been turned and we're in a pretty good position right now but you'd never know it from reading here.

I just can't get the "it was just a speech" folks, since we all knew that's all he was gonna do yesterday - give a speech.

At this point its clear. Doesn't matter what Obama does or says, it's all an utter fail. It's such a shame. People talk about Obama letting us down, but what I see is that we are letting us down. We continually snatch defeat from the jaws of victory.

Weeks ago I predicted this was going to happen, but people shot me down when I said so. I love the way it is the republicans themselves who forced tax increases on the rich being put on the table. Had Obama done so too soon, it would have made us happy, although many would have said the same thing they are saying now, that it's just a speech, but he would have alienated a lot of people and would havew given the debate over to the republicans. By "compromising" over the recent cuts issue, he made room for them to shoot themselves in the foot.

I like his style no matter what the naysayers say.

9. Now is the time for the follow up punch
Yes the repubs are a bunch of bullying wimps, and in typical bullying behavior they ran to Mom, the Principal, anyone they could, to whine up a storm after behaving badly for years.

Now is the key, Obama and all Dems need to be ready to pop their sorry faces at the first opportunity.

10. I love the fact that
Ryan had a front row seat to his own political dismembering.

President Obama - yes Ryan, he is YOUR President, sliced and diced with a smile on his face.

Yes, it is a good day today. And if President continues like this - it may be a VERY good 2012!

With Hope,
Annette

15. So we should celebrate elevating the deficit to our pre-eminent economic problem?
For God's sake, WHY?

What about jobs? Foreclosures? 8% of our housing stock vacant? Jeebus.
