The World's Friendliest Countries
They say you can never go home again–and you may not want to after relocating to Canada, Bermuda or South Africa.

These are the countries where it’s easiest to befriend locals, learn the language, fit into the new culture and integrate into the community, according to respondents to HSBC Bank International’s Expat Explorer survey, the results of which were released late last month.

Canada was most welcoming for the second year in a row; more than half of survey-takers there said they’d made friends with locals. In Bermuda 57% have had the pleasure, and the same for South Africa.

HSBC surveyed 4,127 expatriates in more than 100 countries between April and June 2010. Because countries with fewer than 30 respondents were deemed statistically insignificant, the findings rank a total of only 25 countries. / snip

5. If you read the rest of the article
the US came in just behind the top three.

Coming in just behind the top three in terms of friendliness were the U.S. and Australia.

It says nothing about us being mean and angry. Top five sounds pretty good, considering every quote in the article seems to be from an American.

4. Go North America!
I see some of the US's attributes are finally rubbing off on our neighbors to the north.

:P

7. what a bizarre definition of "friendliness".
They should have called it "list of countries which are most like the United States", not "friendliness".

And who the heck would pick South Africa as "friendly"? "Welcome to South Africa. Now give me your wallet or I'll kill you"
