Japan Nuclear Plant management will glue radioactive particles to the ground to reduce spread!

Glue! Who would have thunk? Sounds like a plan to me! BBI

Glue and cloth tents

In an effort to reduce the spread of radioactive particles, TEPCO plans to spray resin on the ground around the plant. The company will test the method Thursday in one section of the plant before using it elsewhere, Nishiyama said.

"The idea is to glue them to the ground," he said. But it would be too sticky to use inside buildings or on sensitive equipment.

The government also is considering covering some reactors with cloth tenting, TEPCO said. If successful, that could allow workers to spend longer periods of time in other areas of the plant.

of the problem. Good thinking on their part. This is all going to take a long time.

Here's a link to a long post about why it's going to take a long time:

6. The EPA just said yesterday that Americans should continue to expect short-term contamination
of rainwater as radioactive isotopes spread through the atmosphere from Japan.

Short term.

I don't believe anything that comes out of the EPA, TEPCO, IAEA, the Japanese gov't.

NOBODY knows what the hell is going on. Nobody can say, or will say, where the leaks are coming from.

The only thing these agencies can tell people with certainty is that it's safe. :eyes:

9. So you don't believe that we're facing more contamination, either?
Since you don't believe the EPA, that must be what you're saying.

8. So, if you don't believe the EPA, then you don't think we'll
continue to have short-term contamination? I'm not sure I understand. You quote the EPA, then say you don't believe them. I'm really confused, here.

Maybe I can help. The leaks are coming from Fukushima. The experts there aren't sure yet how badly the reactors are damaged. That's because there's no way to look inside them, and there can't be a way. So, they're still working on figuring out the extent of the damage. But they do know that the leaks are coming from those reactors. I hope that clears up your confusion.

But, I still don't understand why you quote an agency you don't believe. That just doesn't make sense, you know...

19. Maybe I can help. NOBODY knows where the leaks are, and can't get in to find out.
The EPA cannot say it will be short term.

4. Nuclear power is safe provided you have an adequate supply of glue and duct tape.

5. I thought the ocean is big enough to dissemminate the radiation w/o harm to humans?
Not that I believe them.

I also wonder what happens to the plutonium since it is heavy. Does it sit at the bottom, disrupting the food chain?

And while funny on television, it is bad news in real life.

They being NHK English.

Said he is spreading resin on the floor, as it dribbled out. (Maybe this is the test, though)
