That said, I don't predict anyone will side with Mr. Tharu's version of events.

Kathmandu, March 9 (IANS) A rape charge, similar to the controversial case of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange, has now surfaced in Nepal with an American tourist filing a complaint against a Nepali hotel owner.

On Tuesday, when Nepal was celebrating International Women's Day, an American woman, originally from Colorado, filed an official complaint with Nepal Police, alleging she was raped Monday night by the owner of a hotel in Kathmandu where she had been staying with a friend.

(snip)

According to the charge pressed by the woman and taken up by the American Embassy in Kathmandu, she was raped by Kamal Tharu, the owner of the hotel.

However, according to the hotel staff, it started out as consensual sex which took an ugly turn when the American insisted that Tharu use a condom and he refused.

1. Didn't we agree that consent can't be revoked and there is no rape possible in these cases?
Yes, that's sarcasm. The leaking of documents is not going to stop or even slow down because of anything Assange does - it's much bigger than him.

But womens rights in this area? Yes - it can be harmed when people dismiss a victims allegations out of hand in order to support the accused for political reasons without any other thought than the political movement they lead.

2. Yes, consent can be withdrawn, but not after the act; and in Assange's case
not several days after the act when two women meet and learn they've been consentual with the same guy withing two days of each other....

3. "Assange refused his partner's request to stop" - It was prior to him wetting his dick.
Or is Assange purely a vessel of love incapable of using another human being against their will for his own selfish gratification?

I think Assange should submit himself to the lawful and internationally respected Swedish legal system for questioning - and yes, I'm opposed to anyone using someone's body to jack off into. No matter what their politics are.

I consider it a litmus test.

4. Whatever. She was best friends with him until she found out about the other
younger lady... She also had a some kind of blog that described how to use Sweeden's rape laws to get even with men.

More than enough reasonable doubt for me to give Assange the benefit of the doubt.
