I agree with Michael Moore about Julian Assange..
If these rape allegations towards him bear out. Then I hope he goes through the criminal justice seems and feels the full weight of the law upon him.

Women for years have been ridiculed, ignored, even assaulted for making allegations of rape or abuse. Any rape allegations should be taken seriously, the onus is not on the victim...

I also agree with both his and Rachel Maddow's points on WikiLeaks...

If you get a chance to see the tape I would highly recommend it. Great conversation, great interview.

1. Shouldn't the onus always be on the accuser?
Do you not believe in "innocent until proven guilty?"

2. Sorry dude, but the onus is on the victim... with the state as their advocate.

4. Of course the onus is on the victim.
The accused doesn't have to prove innocence, the accuser has to prove guilt.

5. The real point is, if he is innocent, he deserves more than a back page retraction.
Edited on Tue Dec-21-10 10:50 PM by WingDinger
And yet, if he is a sexual predator, then he gets it.

8. Well, of course Rachel is right. People should be able to think at the same time
the United States is stalking Assange AND this case needs to go through the process.

9. My impression is that she has already judged Assange on many issues. I don't agree with her.
Edited on Tue Dec-21-10 11:04 PM by glinda
She is letting personal issues and causes cloud her ability to see the possibilities in this situation.

11. Simply put
He needs to be given a fair trial, emphasis on fair. If, for example, two years ago, you told me John Edwards was doing all the sleazy stuff he did, I would have called setup. Sadly, it all turned out to be true. I can say this, despite the fact that I still think edwards was the only one to really address class.

12. So, in rape cases it's "Guilty until proven innocent"?
I'll let everyone with a jealous, crazy ex-girlfriend know they'd better get the fuck outta dodge.
