Scott Walker Asked to Leave Local Restaurant
http://mymindstain.blogspot.com/2011/02/scott-walker-asked-to-leave-local.html

You know you're not well liked when you are asked to leave a local tavern because people boo-ing at you causes an upset, but this is exactly what happened to Wisconsin State Governor Scott Walker on Friday the 18th of February.

The Merchant in Madison, WI confirms that on Friday night, Patrick Sweeney (one of the owners) politely asked Scott Walker to leave the establishment when other customers began boo-ing him. A bartender at The Merchant said that, "his presence was causing a disturbance to the other customers and management asked him to leave."

68. Rave review of this new restaurant from NYC visitor to Madison
The place sounds too hip & (dare I say it?!?) progressive to attract Republicans or Tea Partiers, but the fact that an owner has power to toss out a customer for political actions should appeal to the Libertarians). I got this review from googling the restaurant's name and going to a rest. review website.

"We live in New York City but were visiting family in Madison. On a suggestion of a friend we went to Merchant which, as described, was a restaurant / grocery / craft bar similar (in concept) to Jeffrey's Grocery in NYC (Joseph Leonard's).

While my wife and I were unimpressed by Jeffrey's Grocery in NYC, we absolutely loved Merchant. The food, atmosphere and craft bar would put Merchant among the top "casual" fine dining places in NYC.... and this place is in Madison.

Here is a New York City description of Merchant. Put the Spotted Pig together with Le Pain Quotidien, Wichcraft and Employees Only craft bar and you would have something like Merchant.

We went for lunch and had the cured pork with fresh mozzerella and pickled onions. For dinner we had the roast chicken and trout. The food was outrageously good.

The only question I have is when Merchant will expand to NYC.

Enjoy!"

48. Doesn't matter. His whole purpose was to get all the nasty shit
that's hidden in the 100 plus pages of the bill passed. The uproar about union rights? That's what magicians call misdirection. Everybody is focused on that and when Walker lets them keep collective bargaining, they'll all go home happy for crumbs that they were never going to lose anyway.

109. We have a winna! The privatization/purchasing of pubic property in that bill -- fisheries,
parks, etc. is the real plum the Rethugs want -- for future development. Collective bargaining is just the smokescreen. The media needs to tell that story!

69. Don't phone them - their phone line is swamped and that's bad for their business.
They've been getting swamped with both nasty and supportive calls and it's interfering with their business. They asked a local blogger to remove their name from his favorable report on this incident, in hopes of generating fewer hate calls.

71. The law says the restaurant has that right.
Businesses can not turn away customers based on race, sex, religion, disability. But otherwise businesses have the right to refuse service. This is important for bars/restaurants in the case of drunk/disruptive customers. That's why they have bouncers, ya know!

60. Gov. of Wisconsin is now a status crime.

Status crime is where your state of being is criminal, like being a vagrant or a bum where homelessness is criminalized.

Actually, I think being a cat is a status crime. I can't stand cats.

63. If only
this would happen every time one of the bought and paid for "representatives" went out in public. I really believe that IF we had an unbiased MSM like when we had THE FAIRNESS DOCTRINE, most (95%) Americans would realize what the 1-2% of the "ruling elite" were doing to our country, and react.

72. Make The Politicians Own Their Ignorance
We too often let elected officials do very stupid things then we kiss their asses to keep their favor. I am more frequently the person telling them they are brainless. At a press event I was being photographed with a US House Member from WV and right before they snapped the shot I asked her if she was really as dumb as she appeared by her voting record. The look on her face in that picture was truly worth a thousand words. Colleagues told me I was stupid to do that because she wouldn't support things for my agency. I said, 'gee in 15 years she hasn't cast one vote in our favor.'

76. Explanation
I suppose I should explain what prompted the press event and why I was so pissed. Seems the Congresswoman voted against the bill the funded a program that funds our agency. It was an election year and she had the nerve to show up with a giant check to give to our agency and made it look like she was responsible for the funding. Of course, it was my job to be there and smile for the camera with this hypocrite. I couldn't resist having a private moment with the Congresswoman since I would have been fired if I had made the facts public.

80. It's the story of a guy....
That screwed some people over and was trying to keep that going. Soon, word spread and this caused much commotion. At the end of a hard day of trying to ruin lives, all he wants to do is head out to the local watering hole and enjoy a cool beer.

Turns out... some of the same everyday people that he screwed over felt the need to drink as well.

LMAO. What an ass.

his constituents are not the tparty, this isn't a campaign ad shoot and that real people and not corporations are who votes him in and out of office.

I do hope that the protesters have begun circulating recall petitions amongst themselves at the capitol. It's time to show this knucklehead who has the power in this country--and it ain't "We the Corporations".
