Teachers, Firefighters, and Cops
Having shed a few tears of pride and hope here,

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=439&topic_id=456590&mesg_id=457120

I feel the urge to pass on what my tax man told me last night, during our annual appointment.

I declined to pay him extra to represent me in case of audit this year. I always pay that fee, and a couple of years back, it served me quite well. In 2009, I was audited for both 2006 and 2007. He represented me, and I ended up not having to pay the combined $2800 extra plus interest the IRS was trying to leverage.

Times are tough though, so this year, I declined. I told him, "I was just audited for 2 years running. They ought to be done with me for awhile." He laughed and said he damned well hoped so. But then he said:

"That year the IRS was more aggressive than they'd been for a long time. They focused on teachers, firefighters, and cops. That's where we saw the vast majority of audits in our office, and we heard the same from our colleagues across the country."

1. Now that is interesting.
Do you have any extra Reynold's Wrap--because what I am thinking in light of recent events...might need a little extra :tinfoilhat:

3. Yes, that was a policy of the shrub adminitration...
to stop auditing the rich and go after the middle class and union workers.
