Breaking from AJE- he will apologize for the deaths
Edited on Thu Feb-10-11 03:42 PM by malaise
and injuries, will transfer power to Suleiman but will not stand aside, will change five sections of the constitution and will remove the 30 year martial law.

Word is he has no intention of stepping down - from AJE - they are reading wire reports of what he'll say.

Will speak any moment now - for the gazillionth time.

25. Seeing what's happened I'm wondering now if there will be a divide in the
military. I heard the younger commanders might not be in agreement with the senior military. Mubarak didn't say anything but the same old sh**. Sounds like the VP is saying the same sh** too.

5. To say the very least.
If that were the intention I would imagine that there would be a massive military presence. Is there?

24. I had heard earlier tanks and razor wire were surrounding the palace and tanks
outside of the square, but I have no idea to what extent. IMO Mubarak has handled this extremely poorly, but then again he is a dictator, so IMO to have been pretty much expected as we see now.

21. He did pass power to Suleiman
Ron Paul is on M$NBCompast. I do love his foreign policy approach.
Says the US will just line up with the next dictator. Bring the troops home. Says the US has wasted 70plus billion dollars and he's expecting chaos in Egypt.

He starts with the apology to the dead and injured.

determined to fulfill all the promises - demands lawful and legitimate.

9. Reports are that he will also say that he "won't take orders
from outsiders".He's trying to imply that only "outside forces" want him to leave. I'll give him this, he's going to try every ploy he has before he leaves.

Nicholas Kristof
Dictators have an amazing capacity to fool themselves and be oblivious to reality. As #Mubarak is showing.

By fulminating against outside pressure, Mubarak may have helped the US, & made us look like we're trying to push him out.
