"Sleep, Circadian Hormonal Dysregulation and Breast Cancer Survival"
That's the name of an study now taking place:

http://www.armyofwomen.org/current/view?grant_id=109

These scientists and others need women willing to submit blood and tissue samples, answer questions on diet, sleeping habits, exercise etc in order to learn how to prevent breast cancer.

If you'd be willing to participate, sign up at

http://www.armyofwomen.org/aboutus

All you are doing by signing up is asking to be notified when a researcher needs subjects; it's up to you to volunteer for or decline any particular study.

1. That scares me..
I have not slept "at night" for decades, and only nap in 45 min increments. Every week or so, I crash for 6 or 7 hours, but that is rare.

My diet is hit & miss ( although I do love veggies)

and menopause gave me a "buddha belly", after a lifetime of having a concave belly ..

That study would surely have bad news for me:(

4. But ... what if the study found out that women working night shifts
should get extra Vitamin D, or eat more carrot juice, or stand on their heads 5 minutes a day to better their odds? Then the study would have good news for all of us!

5. I try to spread the word periodically - all the research money in the world won't

help if scientists can't round up the people they need to study. The answers are out there, but they're needles in a hay stack. It helps the odds if we put more needles in the hay stack!

7. Some of the studies want cancer survivors, some want women now in treatment,
some want family members, so anyone can join. Most of the studies are near large research centers, of course.

3. I worked night shift for years...add to that staying up with babies when
they were little, and just general insomnia through most of my 20's-30's...yikes, don't wanna think about it.
