just the satisfaction of know he doesn't have to be bothered with it or ticking his wife off.

In all fairness to him, he is not from this country, he is from India, so it not in his experience. Beside, he has told me he loves me in other ways: putting new tires on my car even though the tread is more worn on his car tires, always topping off my tank even if that means he has to take the bus for the rest of the week, giving me the bulk of his paycheck and trusting me to be prudent with our household accounts, taking care of some things before I even have the chance to take care of them. He never begrudges me my mani-pedi or beauty shop appointment-he thinks that how nice I look reflects on him.

How do I return the love: making sure he has 1 or 2 lunches packed in case he works overtime, have a warm crock pot full of hot soup when he comes home in the morning (he works nights, I work days)and heat up the leftovers for my dinner, jealously guard his sleep time until he gets up, prepare his fav food-but make sure to use low cholesterol, low salt, no oil and try to have them as close to the taste he likes, do his side business books and go to his community function-even though I have plenty to do and may not really want to be there.

So what if he sleeps through the romantic weekend I planned, I am a grown woman and can take care of myself-no point at being upset. Once he almost forgot me at the Metro in Paris for a while. Our friends were horrified and ask if I was angry. I laughed and told them that while I did not speak French, he had left his wallet with me and I knew I could speak the universal language...American Express. Like I said, I can take care of myself if I need to and I never take his flubs personally. I know his true heart.

And that my friends is real love.
