Just thought of a strange parallel re: Reagan
Edited on Tue Feb-08-11 08:41 AM by Jester Messiah
It just struck me that the conservatives' love of Reagan bears an uncanny resemblance to the cult of Kim Il-Sung. They worship a dead politician and credit him with a bunch of stuff he never did, while entirely overlooking the idiotic destructive path upon which he set the nation.

6. Speaking of creepy, check this out (if you dare)

Link goes to creepy cultish "Reagan Tribute Song" lyrics. Sorry for the freep link but I'm not going to post this garbage directly on DU. Got a cold shiver reading it... it really could have come from KCNA.

2. However -Reagan's children aren't following his footsteps (at all)..
Reagan's own namesake, the level-headed Ron Jr., is one of us.

3. True. But there's the whole Bush Dynasty thing to balance that out. [nt]

5. I've thought the same thing
I don't think conservatives really hate totalitarian regimes around cults of personality...they envy them and see them as competition.

7. In fact, I coined the word "Bushevik" to make just that point after the 2000 election theft
Seriously. I wrote a brief satirical series on Buzzflash in early 2001 in which I portrayed Bush and his Bushevik cronies taking over America, renaming Washington DC "Reagangrad", hoisting their flag (that was blue for the color of the blood with a banana and a dollar sign in the corner) over the Capitol, etc.

To my knowledge, I'm the one who invented that word. This is from Buzzflash on January 31, 2001. There's a link to my article in the lower righthand corner, but it doesn't take you to the article, unfortunately. I think I printed most of the things I wrote. I hope so, because they're mostly down the memoryhole now.
