Suggested META guidelines:

* Probably not a good idea to post concrete ideas and proposals in the OP, otherwise replies will be interpreted as support for the OP's proposal -- Better for the OP to simply announce a General Assembly thread and state (without editorial comment) the skeleton of a possible agenda including items people already wanted to talk about. Concerns, twinkles, additional items etc. can then be posted in replies.

* Concrete ideas or proposals that are long and detailed, opinion pieces on the state of DU, etc. should contain a link to a separate post entitled (e.g.) MIC CHECK. That will allow the discussion on this thread to flow.

* Check-in posts that contain a farewell message should contain a link to a separate farewell post,
So that users can click on this thread to get links to all the farewell posts.

* For each AGENDA item (including newly added items) please post a reply directly to this OP entitled ITEM #. Discussion on that item can then take place as a subthread.

In your reply to this post here in General Assembly, it'd also be helpful to clarify if you're:

* Just checking in for the Assembly. Still here.

* Posting on behalf of someone who's already left (please post link to a farewell thread)

* Already left and are checking back in for a last goodbye (please post link to a farewell thread ;_;

* Sticking it out here, but will not make the transition to DU3 if GD2 is shut down.

May wish to post a preliminary message just in case (probably already have),
but staying and occupying with us until or unless that happens.

* Leaving DU2 prior to closure, i.e. not sticking around and won't be on DU3

(i.e. "good luck with occupy and all that, I will miss you guys.") ;_; (Plz stay?)

* Leaving DU2 for DU3 (reluctantly or otherwise).

* Sticking it out and also on DU3 if and when there's an OccupyUnderground group in place.

25. Haha, I appreciate the personal mention...

but its hard to get anything going. We all expect the pepper spary at any moment. We are all just hunkering down and seeing what happens. I would have thought that the plug would have been pulled, but maybe not. Maybe late tonight we get the hammer. It will be one full week from the other incomplete site going live.

They keep telling us only a few more days, and even Mr. 24 business hours came by.

I will also not be kicking this thread since I don't want to post excessively. So it will
sink if it doesn't catch on.

I'll let Cronus tell it but basically someone's registered Occupy Underground as a Group name on DU3.

For those of us who won't be left behind....

(per in_cog_ni_to's suggestion about the utility of having a DU3 group modeled after GD2)

It's funny how "Oh you" seems to be the predominant attitude from people who are in a position of responsibility toward any creative idea from people who are not in a position of responsibility.



I know that I've had to restrain myself from dismissing other people's ideas in a volunteer project when they would require me to adjust what *I* was authorized to do (what I want).

The problem with this country is people have this idea that "oh, they are the authority, they put the work in, they own it." Where is the room for innovation if ideas are not allowed to percolate up from the bottom?

We need a "percolate up" economy.

More and more, I am convinced that Admin already knows what a huge disaster DU3 is and that they may have to scrap it. Don't think the DU3 converts will want to come back here, exactly, but I sincerely doubt DU3 will exist in its present form a month from now.

I also don't know how much longer I'll be contributing to this or any other Democratic Party websites. So I don't have any "where to go when its over" kinds of comments.

It'd be nice to have an "Underground" forum for long-time users so long as we keep it within GD2 rules.

My understanding is that the default plan is to wait for the boards to auto-archive and then they will remain accessible as no-reply archives, just like General Discussion 2007-2010, General Discussion 2005-2007 etc.
