Ohio State gives President Gordon Gee $16,000 pay increase, bonus

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Ohio State University trustees have approved a pay increase of about $16,000 for President Gordon Gee and a performance bonus of about $143,000.

The change approved Friday raises Gee's base salary 2 percent to $834,530, and awards a 17.5 percent bonus. Last year, Gee received a 2 percent salary increase and 37 percent bonus.

The university says the bonus comes from non-public funds.

Amid a scandal involving the football team, the university has been questioned over the past year about how it handled player suspensions, the departure of coach Jim Tressel and subsequent NCAA problems.
