If the Democrat Party rejects OWS they do so at their own peril. They need to be inviting OWS into their meetings. If they think the base is fractured now they haven't seen anything yet. This is political suicide.

Charlotte is pretty right-wing. When I say right-wing, it's like having part of Alabama in North Carolina. They occasionally send out a mayor to run for governor and he returns home beaten because they're too crazy for a somewhat conservative state (though Purdue's weakness may give them a win for once this time around). Given that, I would be real careful about accusing Democrats of harming the Occupy movement just because Charlotte does something.
