Shell, BP and Statoil executives were duped into listening to a Greenpeace lecture against exploration.

Oil company executives from among others Shell, BP and Statoil thought they were going to an exploration seminar held by Greenland’s Raw Materials Directorate today – instead they were duped into attending a Greenpeace lecture against exploration.
Some 18 executives, who were hoping to receive information on oil exploration in Greenland were tricked into another location to hear a lecture on why they should not bid for exploration licences in and around Greenland.
As they entered an elevator to go to the correct Directorate meeting on the fifth floor, friendly (Greenpeace) assistants advised them that the meeting had been moved to another room on the fourth floor – which Greenpeace had hired for the occasion.
Here suit-and-tie-clad Greenpeace activists subjected the oil companies to a 15-minute power-point presentation on why environmental organisations are against exploration and extraction in Greenland. Coffee, tea and croissants were laid on.
It was not until the final slide of the show that those listening became aware of the fact they had been duped by Greenpeace – which had ‘normal’ yellow-clad activists demonstrating outside the building on Nordatlantens Brygge.
After the presentation, activists thanked the oil companies and left the building.
