Anyone who has ever bought pot in a cloudy Baggie or a wad of tinfoil while someone flushes in the next stall will be impressed by the modern face of marijuana retailing as portrayed in the new Discovery Channel program “Weed Wars.”

The four-week series, beginning Thursday night, is set at the Harborside Health Center in Oakland, Calif., which dispenses medical marijuana to more than 90,000 clients. With its glass cases displaying White Rhino and Pine Tar Kush (19.7 percent THC!) and its long, perpetual queues, the center looks like a cross between a high-end health-food store and the Department of Motor Vehicles.
