Martha Coakley
The Massachusetts Attorney General who's endearing herself to Occupiers everywhere with her action today against the banksters:
After months of fruitless negotiations with big banks over foreclosure abuses, Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley brought the hammer down Thursday, filing a sweeping case against five big banks that could yield millions of dollars in damages.

In 2009, her office filed a first-in-the-nation lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of the federal Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), resulting in a federal judge striking down the law for the first time in history.

During these difficult economic times, Coakley has successfully worked to reduce costs for consumers and taxpayers and vigorously prosecuted cases of corruption and fraud. During the 2010 fiscal year alone, her office recovered more than $660 million for taxpayers based on her office’s budget of $37 million, a better than 17 to 1 ratio. Her office has saved families and businesses hundreds of millions of dollars by challenging utility rate increases, and recovered over $100 million in Medicaid fraud prosecutions - a record for the office. In 2010, Coakley issued a landmark report on the significant cost drivers of the health care system that has helped steer the debate on solutions to control costs for families and businesses. Coakley has also formed two new divisions, including a Public Integrity Unit, to combat cases of fraud and public corruption in her second term.

Seems to me she would make an excellent candidate for higher office, in the same class as Elizabeth Warren.

3. She blew the Senate race in Massachusetts....
basically handing over Ted Kennedy's seat to Scott Brown. Her incompetence in general and her arrogance during the 'campaign' was stunning, to say nothing of the end result.

4. .....and that's being charitable.
She out-and-out gave/threw it away.

It was hers to lose, and LOSE she did.

Talk about opening old wounds.............

6. Sorry, I missed that
With all she has accomplished in office, it's sad that she didn't conduct a better campaign.

9. The absolute worst run campaign that I have ever witnessed.
Completely incompetently run. Her defeat gave republicans hope, along with the bumbling by Corzine in NJ and the democratic gubernatorial candidate in Virginia.

Coakley has risen as high as her political capabilities dictate.

11. Good for her. Higher office? Um, no.
If Obama gets a second term John Kerry could be the new Secretary of State, opening up another Massachusetts special senate election. Martha Coakley should NOT run.

12. She's always been an effective AG
But when running for US Senator, you don't take a vacation in the middle of the campaign and make snide comments about mingling with the people whose vote you're seeking.

Still, good for Martha's latest actions.
