Occupy protesters “branded” with UV ink
Edited on Thu Dec-01-11 04:32 PM by Juneboarder
“They wrote on my hand with a permanent marker and then after I felt something pointy and metallic scraping across my skin,” wrote protester Nina Haigh on Facebook, continuing:

I immediately asked “What are you doing” and they simply said we wrote on you with a pen and showed me a bunch of various pens in her hand.

I didn’t argue about it and I was unable to look at my hands as they were tied behind my back with zipties. As soon as I was released I looked at my hands and there was no ink on them from a pen. …

This morning we tested my hands under a black light and sure enough there was a number 2! The freaky thing is this is IN my skin, washing my hands and scrubbing with abrasives will not get this off…. perhaps in several months of my skin cells renewing themselves if will eventually fade.

What ever ink that is in there is irritating my skin slightly and its a very terrible feeling that they put a substance in my body with out my consent and then later lied about it.

This is scary stuff going on people... has anyone else heard of this going on?

2. Okay, really, nobody's heard of a fluorescent marker?
They're used all the time in nightclubs so that people can't fake the marks. It'll wash off in about 48 hours.

3. Fluorescent markers
don't take 48 hours to come off. Disneyland uses these, and they're usually off by the next day. As well, the ink doesn't feel like nails on your skin when applied...

8. Nope that's not a flourescent marker.
Having worked in a bar I can tell you that the UV sensitive ink can be stamped on. It requires no scraping. It should come off with some kind of oil or lanolin based lotion worked into the area.

If I were the poster I'd get a Dr. to take a skin sample and have a lab test it.

10. No, it's not in disguise.

They're not even bothering to hide it anymore. Ms. Haigh needs to see a dermatologist -- and a lawyer -- right away. The ACLU might also be interested.

11. I would have my Doctors office (OK - I work in a dr office ...)
And have them ask about it for ongoing medical care. I would claim an allergic reaction and not take no info as an answer. My medical director would have no problem sand bagging the assholes until they gave up the info. I imagine the term life and death and liability would be mentioned prominently as well as requests for names and badge numbers.

13. THAT is properly called a "Tattoo".
I'm not surprised.
Other authoritarian governments have used Tattoos to identify undesirables.
