in an interview with Euronews, Elaraby said that Syrian President Bashar Assad blocked the arrival of monitors.

Nabil Elaraby:

“We wanted to send a group of observers to ensure the protection of civilians, this is what was asked for. He (Assad) did not sign the protocol, the observers were never sent. Who blocks this process? Not the Arab League or the Arab foreign ministers.”

Riad Muasses, euronews:

“But by doing this, the Arab League is accused of trying to introduce international involvement?”

Nabil Elaraby:

“I want to be clear on this point, any decision taken on Syria, was taken to prevent foreign intervention.”
