Obama Gets Mic Checked By Occupy Wall Street Protesters (VIDEO)
http://globalgrind.com/news/president-barack-obama-gets-mic-checked-occupy-wall-street-protesters-video

According to ABC News, many of the protesters handed out flyers reading the statement they were supposed to chant at the President:

"Over 4000 peaceful protesters have been arrested. While bankers continue to destroy the American economy. You must stop the assault on our 1st amendment rights. Your silence sends a message that police brutality is acceptable. Banks got bailed out. We got sold out."

However before they could get it all out the crowd turned on them, booing and eventually drowning them out with “Obama!” chants.

9. Doing nothing allowed Goldman Sachs and others to buy the government.
And we are obviously at the beginnings of a police state.

Doing nothing, saying nothing, is unconscionable.

21. No! Silence is golden
Sure, people are starving in the streets, but if they can be patient for just a little while longer, say 18-180 months or so*, you'll see that we've been on the right track all along. Let the process play out, then we'll have everything in nice, apple-pie order. Unless you don't like pie, you dirty fucking hippie.

*May be off by a factor of 10, but in the cosmic scheme of things, is that really so very long?

4. A protester handed President Barack Obama a note
Edited on Tue Nov-22-11 04:16 PM by Huey P. Long

A protester handed President Barack Obama a note while shaking hands along a rope line in New Hampshire today. AP photographer Charlie Dharapak smartly zoomed in so you can read the note for yourself.

Obama Gets Mic Checked, Tells Protesters: ‘You’re The Reason I Ran For Office’ | Protesters aligned with Occupy Wall Street interrupted President Obama at a speech in New Hampshire this afternoon, and Obama responded by telling the demonstrators that they are the reason he wanted to get into public service. A few minutes into his speech at the high school, a protester shouted “mic check,” and others joined in with shouts. The crowd quickly drowned the protesters out with chants of “Obama,” but a few minutes later, Obama said “families like yours, young people like the ones here today — including the ones who were just chanting at me — you’re the reason that I ran for office in the first place.”

Not that Obama is going to do anything.

If he did, it might slow the movement. Accept no poison apples, accept no half-measures!

Ron Paul gets ‘mic checked’ by New Hampshire protesters
Texas Rep. Ron Paul (R) received a “mic check” from protesters affiliated with the “Occupy Wall Street” movement at town hall event in Keene, New Hampshire on Monday.

“We are the 99 percent,” they shouted. “We will be heard. There are criminals on Wall Street who walk free. There are protesters in jail. There is something wrong with this system. We are the 99 percent. We will be heard.”

“Do you feel better?” Paul responded, chuckling.

“If you listen very carefully, I’m very much involved with the 99 ,” the presidential candidate continued. “I’ve been condemning that 1 percent because they’ve been ripping us off. So, we need to sort that out. But the people on Wall Street got the bailouts and you guys got stuck with the bills and I think that’s where the problem is.

24. Did I say that? NO I didn't say that. The audience members interrupted the mic check
and I pointed that out.

The audience apparently didn't like what the protestors had to say to the President, so maybe it's the audience that thinks everyone is not allowed to speak.

27. They interrupted the interruption?

Is there, like, first dibs on this kind of thing?

Loudest wins? What?

You make it sound as if the audience was being rude to someone who was speaking. I believe Mr. Obama was already doing that when the mic check started.

To recap:

The folks doing the mic check apparently didn't like what the President had to say, so they interrupted him. Then, the audience members apparently didn't like what the protestors had to say, so they interrupted the mic check.

"so maybe it's the audience that thinks everyone is not allowed to speak"

I'm just guessing that they probably showed up to hear Mr. Obama speak.

22. Do you realize what a media clusterfuck that would be?
It'd suck up a month of air as police unions and mayors around the country put in their two bit. Americans are going to go to Thanksgiving Dinner with no deal on the budget and protesters in the streets. Obama doesn't need to address it: the media and the courts will do a fine job of it on their own.

Two words: Super Committee.

28. haven't we all given the deficit quite enough attention already?
so our whole country has already spent the whole year on that debt limit clusterfuck and now surprise surprise the super committee failed, so now isn't the automatic trigger supposed to take effect? So what's left to say?

Is our country going to be permanently fixated on the budget deficit for now and forever with no end in sight? The deficit is the issue of the rich, by the way. Haven't they dominated our discourse long enough?

26. That's the point. It's a question which must be asked, which must be answered.
They are brutalizing us for using our Constitutionally-guaranteed 1st Amendment rights. Our 4th Amendment rights are also being trampled in the process. See the destruction of all property in Zuccotti Park, see today's report that police "lost" the joke Wikileaks truck...

This cannot stand unquestioned.

34. So now they need the President to rescue their trucks?
I thought he was the with the "corporate masters." He's said several times now he understands and agrees with their frustrations. But is he really supposed to be the arbiter of constitutionality? Those who feel their rights are being violated can seek justice in the courts.

Article III.

Section. 1.

The judicial Power of the United States shall be vested in one supreme Court, and in such inferior Courts as the Congress may from time to time ordain and establish. The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behaviour, and shall, at stated Times, receive for their Services a Compensation, which shall not be diminished during their Continuance in Office.

Section. 2.

The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;--to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;--to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;--to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;--to Controversies between two or more States;-- between a State and Citizens of another State,--between Citizens of different States,--between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.

In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

The Trial of all Crimes, except in Cases of Impeachment, shall be by Jury; and such Trial shall be held in the State where the said Crimes shall have been committed; but when not committed within any State, the Trial shall be at such Place or Places as the Congress may by Law have directed.

46. Yes, the "supreme court" which voted for corporate personhood is on the list.
And I suppose that you are correct. The president has zero power and we shouldn't hold him morally and ethically in league with the very people he supposedly represents.

You are willfully failing to see the point. The system is broken, and no one is willing to stand up to it except the #Occupiers. Even when directly addressed on the issue, the president only put on a smile and made no condemnation, verbal or legal, against the use of banned chemical weapons currently in use against the public who are engaging in their Constitutional rights. Scott Olsen in the hospital, miscarriage...I suppose it IS up to us to change the world. Get out of our way. Thank you, have a nice day.

38. You're absolutely right. I thought he should have at least let them speak then address them but you
and The President have the correct frame of mind.

Republicans would have exploded into mainstream news for who knows how long and it would be an excuse to attack Occupy movements even harder than they are now.

We all so often are sure our reaction to something is THE right way to go but wiser people stay calm and think before they speak.

We've got to have a singular focus on defeating the GOP in 2012 so we can get much more done. Their economic policies and invasion of Iraq are at the core of the problems we now find ourselves saddled with. In 8 years, George W. Bush took a balanced budget and ruined it and now we've got to put the pieces back together
