Protesters booked
By NOELLE PHILLIPS, JOHN MONK and ADAM BEAM - [email protected]

UPDATE: The 19 Occupy Columbia protesters arrested by the S.C. Bureau of Protective Services were being booked around 10 p.m. at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on charges of trespassing for illegal use of the State House grounds.

The 19 were wet but otherwise in good spirits, said Walid Hakin, one of the 19 arrested who called The State newspaper from the jail. The protesters were anticipating an 11 p.m. bond hearing and planned to ask to be released on personal recognizance bonds, Hakin said. Their arrest tickets show that the trespassing charge carries a fine of $470, he said.

"I didn't want to get arrested," said Hakin, a Marine veteran. "It's not something I strive for. It's not something I want on my record. But it's something I'm proud to be doing."

The protesters sang songs and some even tweeted messages to supporters as they were being transported to the jail in a state police bus, he said. He praised the Bureau of Protective Services officers for treating the protesters with respect.

I know Walid from Drinking Liberally. A great guy; I'm pretty sure that isn't how he spells his last name.

Soooo, anybody know someplace where the Bill of Rights still operates? Can you sue a sitting governor? The arrest order came directly from her by all reports to remove people for trespassing from public grounds with no No Trespassing signs of any kind. Slam dunk, I figure.

("Peacefully disassemble" is the quote of the day.)

Here are TEA PARTY members blocking the entrance to a building in SOUTH CAROLINA, shouting chants, and using bullhorns. Why weren't they arrested and fined?

2. The claim is that they are being arrested for camping out overnight
but your point is a good one.

3. Tea baggers received a pass. When you battle the greedy parasitic bankers, lobbyists, wall street
types you receive no pass.
