Sandusky's adopted son tried to kill himself months after moving in with Penn State 'paedophile'
The child sex abuse scandal surrounding the actions of former Penn State assistant coach Jerry Sandusky continues to grow as details about his family life come to light.

Additionally, the governor of Pennsylvania is adding fuel to the fire, speculating Sunday that more victims will be added to the list of eight boys who were allegedly sexually violated by Sandusky.

When he retired from his defensive coaching position at Penn State, Sandusky cited his need to more family time and dedication to his charity The Second Mile, which helped underprivileged children who were living in foster homes.

He and his wife Dorothy raised six children, all of whom were adopted, and one of whom tried to kill himself shortly after moving in with the Sanduskys.

2. I wouldn't be surprised if he abused his adopted children, too.
This case is getting worse and worse.

7. Yeah, because all 40,000 Penn State students were molesting kids
Edited on Mon Nov-14-11 06:44 PM by Patiod
Here's 10,000 of those creepy students, holding a candlelight vigil for Sandusky's victims.

Also, it's creepy that Penn State students raised millions last year (9.5 million) for the families of children with cancer, and the chances are good that they'll top that total this year.

I'm sorry, but this alumna has had it with the bashing. Sandusky is disgusting and the administrators (including Paterno) were negligent and deserve to lose their jobs. And the stupid, testosterone-poisoned boys (it was mostly boys) who rioted deserve a kick in the ass.

But I'm sick to death of seeing the entire university, student body, and teaching staff getting painted with the same brush.

This story doesn't make State College "creepier", it just states the obvious -- that predators like Sandusky often seek their victims close to home.

13. Greetings, Avalux!
It's been a rough week, huh?

I'm sick for the poor kids who were victims, sick for the students who are bewildered by how they've become the brunt of everyone's jokes when most of them did nothing wrong, sick for all the profs and grad students and other who work so hard to provide a good education for the state's middle class.

The whole thing is just disturbing, and I've about had it with some of the people here on DU. One jackass this week condemned Sandusky and then said "I'm waiting for the Penn State apologists to pile on now". Oh fuck off, you smug dickhead. There have been few if any apologists on DU. Most everyone is heartsick about the behavior of everyone who is involved.

you're in denial...and shouldn't you be posting photos of them rioting also?

19. I don't blame the student body or the school itself..
But I think we're going to find that the administrators were somewhat more than just "negligent", it sure looks and smells like a criminal conspiracy to me.

20. Actually, I'll agree with you on that
Let's go with "criminally negligent".

I'm in no way supporting or defending the administration. It sounds like they did something downright criminal, and I hope it all comes out in court to their eternal shame. I condemn them.

But I support all the students, teachers, and great people of State College (at least the majority, who didn't riot).

They don't deserve to get beat up for something they didn't do and didn't continence.

23. Big universities and other institutions REGULARLY overlook
law breaking and moral issues because they are too big to fail. I do NOT excuse that university and I WILL continue to paint with a broad brush. Because those students, the administration, the "athletes" all need to become SO uncomfortable that something is done about this shit.

14. You could probably make a safe bet that all his male kids were molested by him.
He's a pedophile. It's what they do. :( The man is sick. I do hope his adult children have been questioned and I HOPE they don't try to protect him by lying. It's time to stop his Pedophilia. Enough children have suffered because of him.

21. Whoa! McQueary was a friend of Sandusky's kids?
Are you kidding me? I did not know that and yes, add ALL the friends of the kids. I'm sure he had his pick of an endless supply of innocent kids...because of who he was. Parents trusted him. Someone like him would never do harm to their children. :sarcasm: :( My G-d. There must be hundreds of kids out there that he molested.

22. Yes, he was the same age as the Sandusky kids and was friends with one of them
Those of us who have done a bit of rape crisis counseling have been speculating that perhaps the reason McQueary "froze" when he saw Sandusky and that boy, and called Dad instead of the police is because he was a Sandusky victim himself. it would also go a long ways towards explaining why Penn State isn't firing him and is instead going to great lengths to protect him now.

16. Is anyone surprised it started with "his" children?
He started a foundation so he could browse through it like a supermarket for his next crime.

Sandusky is an embarrassment to human beings.

17. I knew when I read the first Sandusky stories last week
there would be more than eight victims...probably a LOT more. The bastard was protected and enabled by too many powerful forces for too damn long. That gave him time and opportunity to do a hell of a lot of damage.

That's my prediction. An abuser? I don't know. But there's more there than JUST keeping silent and enabling the whole mess. Count my words.

24. Seems this son is standing by him but the son's ex-wife is, naturally, extremely worried
and got a court order to prevent Sandusky from being alone with their children. Some pedophiles do not molest their own children so that could be the case here but Sandusky's wife was out of line calling to assure her ex-daughter-in-law that the children would be safe. She's doing what any parent should do under these circumstances. There is NO WAY she can assume that they are safe alone with their grandfather. NO WAY. That said, until and unless one of his children makes an accusation, it's only speculation. I'd hate to think that his son is still so traumatized that he's defending his abuser (though I know that does happen). This whole thing is just so disgusting.
