Penn State, my final loss of faith
By Thomas L. Day
I’m 31, an Iraq war veteran, a Penn State graduate, a Catholic, a native of State College, acquaintance of Jerry Sandusky’s, and a product of his Second Mile foundation.

And I have fully lost faith in the leadership of my parents’ generation....................

..........................

They have had their time to lead. Time’s up. I’m tired of waiting for them to live up to obligations.

Think of the world our parents’ generation inherited. They inherited a country of boundless economic prosperity and the highest admiration overseas, produced by the hands of their mothers and fathers. They were safe. For most, they were endowed opportunities to succeed, to prosper, and build on their parents’ work.

For those of us in our 20s and early 30s, this is not the world we are inheriting.

4. Your parents generation
fought and died in Vietnam, marched to end the Vietnam war and then deregulated the banks and put George W. Bush in the White House.

So yes. The loss of faith is fully justified.

6. The corrupt SCOTUS put George W. Bush in the White House. My generation (And his parents)
Got Black people admitted to our Colleges, helped them work for financial equality, gave 18 year olds the right to vote,
What have the snarky genXers done?

9. And, what haven't they done?
A fat chunk of them couldn't be bothered to exercise that right to vote at age 18 that those horrible people of the previous generation fought for and got for them. Had they done so, we might not have had a second term from Shit-for-Brains, and he might not have had a Congress full enablers. I guess their parents never taught them that when you point your finger at someone, you have three more pointing right back at yourself. Many of these complainers were of voting age back then. Only a fraction of them ever voted regularly, if at all, prior to 2008.

8. A lot of this kid's generation voted for George W. Bush, too.
The ones who are in their late 20s and 30s were eligible to vote for or against him and for or against the republicans who infested our Congress from 2000-Jan. 2007. Many of them voted for these crooks. Most of them didn't at all, which makes them just as culpable.
