15. Yeah. Well. State College PA has always had its share of riot-hungry idiots
I recall the riot that started in 98 because a bunch of assholes were mad that the bars closed at 2:00AM.

Any excuse to riot in that wacky town.

26. I grew up in State College, and I can tell you
none of this behavior is surprising. The students riot every few years for one reason or another. The students were probably going to riot no matter when Joe left, whether by firing or on his own terms.

Penn State is out in the middle of nowhere. The whole reason Penn State means anything to the outside world (at least in the students' eyes) is Joe Paterno. Some students have based their whole identity around Joe and a winning football team. That's what the students are reacting to: a massive loss of group identity. (Being sh*tfaced probably doesn't help, either.)
