OWS members leave Zuccotti Park and begin a highway hike to Washington, D.C. - pics
NEW YORK, NY - NOVEMBER 09: Members of the Occupy Wall Street movement leave Zuccotti Park and begin a highway hike to Washington, D.C. on November 9, 2011 in New York City. Over twenty demonstrators, who hope to pick up supporters in towns and cities along the way, plan on arriving in Washington in two-weeks time and will take their message against corporate greed to the politicians.

10. If I didn't have to work and could get to New York
I'd love to go with them.

And yeah - the guy holding the American flag is amazing. First time in a decade that I've seen the flag and felt something other than horror and disgust.

14. You mean Aqaba?
العقبة‎?

Sorry - it's really late and I'm in a giddy mood because I should have gone to bed four hours ago, but Semitic and middle-east languages never have a double c as a "k" sound. It's one of those I've often wondered about, even though I studied Hebrew - why some "k" sounds are transliterated with a q, others with a k. I get the "k" versus "kh" and "ch" (in the German sense, like "ach" and "nicht"), wonder why "c" is never used even though in English "c" often has a "k" sound, and why "q" which other than one or two words never shows up without a "u" is used sooooooo often to mean a "k" sound in the middle east but is used in Asian translation to denote a "ch" sound like "choose" and "bitchin'".

Language, linguistics, phonetics, and the symbols we use to denote them over history is fucking fascinating.
