Police recover stolen patrol car after high-speed chase
At approximately 10:40 a.m. on Nov. 6, officers from the Tucson Police Department’s Operations Division in Midtown acted in response to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

The vehicle was spotted north of East Golf Links Road, and west of South Swan Road in a desert area. An officer located the vehicle and determined it was stolen, but could not detain the suspect who fled on foot through the neighborhood to the north of the desert area, and climbed over a residential wall in the 4300 block of East Calle Aurora.

According to the Nov. 6 media release, Sgt. Kyle Robinson, a 15-year veteran, was advancing towards the residence when the suspect leapt over the wall. Robinson exited his patrol car, and ordered the suspect to surrender at gunpoint, but the unidentified male began to run. Although a chase ensued, the suspect circled back around and was able to get into the driver seat of Robinson’s patrol vehicle.

DPS officers engaged in the pursuit near Casa Grande by setting up road spikes that disabled the vehicle. Still, the suspect continued driving until reaching the Sacaton freeway rest area, near milepost 182. The suspect then fled on foot.
