I had to unfriend someone today because of his ignorant view of OWS...
He posted something about a sexual assault at one of them and got all snarky about 'really, this is what you protestors are doing'?

I started to post something about the assaults on military bases, at Republican conventions and the like and then the wise words of a DU'er came to mind.

"Can't argue with stupid people."

So I just aborted the post and unfriended him.

Thank you to the person who said it. It really came in handy.

People you never thought had a political opinion in their life will surprise you on facebook. I don't mind an opposing viewpoint, I have friends who don't hesitate to express their differing views at all but I've had to unfriend two who cluttered FB with a constant barrage of C&P crap.

I hope it wasn't someone close.

5. Nope...
Co-worker who got fired because he was constantly calling in sick (and hadn't been there that long). Decent enough in person, but his diatribes on Facebook left me very cold. I work very hard at just maintaining cordial relationships with people I work with. I do not want to discuss politics or religion and appreciate it if they respect that as well. Hate to have hurt feelings with folks I need to work with.

4. I see that everywhere.
The pattern is people responding to crimes by knowingly blaming the wrong people, so long as the wrong people have some attribute in common with the perp. So if a bank robber is a minority, some other members of the minority will be blamed for instance. (or in this case people at the same place, even the victim who may have been a protestor). Its like this weird new religion of covering up for criminals. The bottom line for me is that the person responsible for a crime is the individual who committed the crime and anybody saying anything else should be questioned as to why they are redirecting blame away from criminals.

6. I have seen so much stupid on FB that it's hard to believe people are using their real names
I only unfriend the most egregious offenders (those are the ones I block also), the other ones I usually just hide their posts from my feed.
