Creating Twitter accounts in others' names is a GOP game?
I guess I have a different idea of what a "game" is. Sheesh!

Twitter accounts of county GOP, chairman yanked

On Wednesday, local Democratic Party Chairman Jess Durfee issued a press release about the social network suspending the accounts of the Republican Party of San Diego County (@SDRepublicans) and that of its chairman, Tony Krvaric (@TonyKrvaric).

Twitter apparently yanked the accounts after county Democrats contacted the company to complain about four handles purporting to represent Democratic San Diego City Council candidates — @SherriLightner, @ToddPhilips, @MatKostrinsky, and @MartiEmerald — in addition to @sddemocrats and its chairman, @JessDurfee.

-snip-

“It wasn’t about him,” said Krvaric, now registered as @Krvaric. “It was really just goofing off."

Durfee said he was not surprised to learn Krvaric was behind the stunt. "He doesn’t seem to spend his time doing the things that help build a party; rather he spends his time playing little games," Durfee said. "While they are doing all that crap, we’re out there registering voters. I guess I approach my position a little more seriously and am doing things that I should be doing."

1. Cheat. Cheat. Cheat. They can't win on their policies, so they have to go "undercover"
as I've seen them on just about every site. Including this one.

3. They have also recruited people with the same names as dem candidates
to run for office, knowing that some people would vote for the wrong "whomever", and split the vote just enough that the gooper candidate could win or at least move into a run-off position.

They know their ideology is toxic, so they have to lie, cheat & steal to "win"....and nothing is too small or silly to do, if it gets the desired result.

4. BP does this with Facebook...
Edited on Thu Oct-13-11 01:34 PM by CoffeeCat
Have you been to the BP America FB page. O...M...F...G.

I've posted about this before, and I'm sorry if people are tiring of me ranting--but it is a disgrace!

BP posts little essays about how gorgeous the Gulf beaches are and how burgeoning the wildlife is. And guess what? THEY TAKE CREDIT FOR
ANY AND ALL BEAUTY AND POSITIVE ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS.

If you post a response--immediately--you are attacked by fake FB accounts. These look like real people, but they're not. They attack you
and suggest that you want the Gulf to fail--and for being a liar. They gang up on you, make fun of you, mock you, laugh at you--like they're just some
good ol' average citizens commenting.

Yeah. Right. What average person thinks that BP is cleaning up the Gulf or saving wildlife? How many people actually hang out on the
BP America site--just waiting to pounce on anyone who dares to suggest that *maybe* BP shouldn't take credit for the new nest of turtles
that just hatched. There are NO HUMAN BEINGS like that.

Their accounts are fake. BP hired a PR agency (Olgilvy, I believe) to handle their reputation management after the Gulf Disaster.

Seriously, there needs to be a whole lot of REAL FB people who are dedicated to countering this baloney--because it is so over-the-top
disingenuous and sick.

6. Krvaric has a long history of dubious activities
Here's where I first became aware of his name, but a little googling turns up various dirty tricks since then:

http://rawstory.com/news/2008/San_Diego_GOP_chairman_cofounded_international_0425.html

April 29, 2008

Any job applicant knows that background checks are routine -- especially for jobs involving authority or oversight of money. So why didn't the San Diego Republican Party do a simple Google search before naming Tony Krvaric as its chairman?

Online research reveals that Krvaric is the co-founder of Fairlight, a band of software crackers which later evolved into an international video and software piracy group that law enforcement authorities say is among the world's largest such crime rings. After co-founding Fairlight in Sweden, Krvaric established U.S. operations for the organization, including an arm headquartered in Southern California -- a major center for the computer and video game industry. . . .

In 1987, Strider and two buddies using the names "Black Shadow" and "Gollum" founded Fairlight, devoted to "cracking" the copy protection on video games for the Commodore 64 and other early systems and redistributing them to acquaintances through electronic bulletin boards.

The "warez d00dz" of that time competed at being the first to get their hands on newly released games. Strider, who worked in a game store and would "borrow" new games to take home and crack, was one of the very best. According to an interview that a website claims was published in Scandinavian News in the 1980s, he quickly became "one of the most famous persons in cracking-scene ever seen: STRIDER of FAIRLIGHT."
