Santa Fe residents find solidarity in 'Wall Street' demonstrations

Chace Haynes, 34, one of those who helped organize Saturday's demonstration and one a week earlier, said he has always been "politically minded," but was moved to organize protests here when the Wall Street movement started in July.

"When they first announced that they were going to ... take it to Wall Street, I knew that was the action that was going to start it off," he said. "Just in the initial responses to that announcement, I knew that was going to be the one (action) that was going to hit the nation."

Haynes, who has obtained a permit for a demonstration at the state Capitol beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, said the social media-driven protests that have sprung up in dozens of U.S. cities compare to the "Arab Spring" movement.
