McDonnell declares state of emergency for earthquake damage
Gov. Bob McDonnell today declared a state of emergency to support local and state response for the earthquake that rattled the East Coast this week.

The declaration applies to all areas of the state affected by the earthquake, the epicenter of which was in Louisa County.

McDonnell’s office said the declaration was made because damage assessments appear to be more extensive than initial reports, aftershocks have caused further problems and the potential for high winds from Hurricane Irene threaten to further damage weakened structures.

Localities are still conducting damage assessments, but so far damage in most areas is limited, McDonnell said. More significant damage has been found closer to the epicenter in Louisa and in Culpeper County. The state is working with localities to determine if the damage will meet federal thresholds for public assistance.

This is not shocking, or surprising... or not expected. Why I said the other day... this is a 1...2 punch...

Which goes without saying... STAY AWAY FROM ANY CRACKED STRUCTURE... this is more than an achoo... in some ways.

Oh and take care people, take care.

3. Yep you did suggest that
there are fears that earthquake damage may be a problem in a hurricane.
Let's hope the Cat 2 rather than Cat3 limits the damage.
