Sticky: " It is far easier to build strong children than repair broken men"
This sticky brought me to tears.

Heartfelt thanks...from a Head Start teacher.

2. Nice sentiment indeed
But broken men need love, too.

And can be healed, btw.

Just sayin'.

5. Truth...
I agree, Will..
I've seen it happen ... in my very long life...
We all need love...and broken can be fixed.
Yet we try to prevent little lives from breaking....
Head Start teachers work in the trenches...and we get love and hugs in return.
It's all we can do...

I have beautiful stories...

peace~

7. Since half of children are girls, shouldn't it be, "It's easier to build strong boys
Than repair broken men"?

9. I think the gender usage was approriate...
only because in the English language the masculine gender is used to apply to all...

As one who lives this life...I didn't even think of gender...
just children....all of them.

11. Oh, I just like consistency. Boys become men, girls become women. Children are both boys & girls.

12. I agree....
Yet I was filled with joy...
Recognition ....is rare.
In retrospect ... I should have reveled in silence rather than outing myself...
Yet had to let the 'sticky person' know that my heart was touched.

Consistency is also rare...
I get it...
You've got it...

Boys and girls....become adults.
And we are all as one....

peace and love to you~

14. The first step in fixing broken men is to understand what they are SUPPOSED to look like whole...

There are more, but Iron John is the men's equivalent to women who run with the wolves, and a VERY good introduction to this subject matter.

Peace,

18. I love you, Dystopian.
My aunt was a Head-Start administrator in Puerto Rico. She busted her chops making it work, only to see the program practically evaporate thanks to the budget priorities of the warmonger Ronald Reagan.

That was 30 years ago. I wonder how many of today's adults who had trouble in school because they were not able to participate in the program? It's a good bet a great number of people would be in a better position today to contribute toward making this a better society had they had the benefits of Head Start.

Even if it were just one child, it'd be worth the investment.

19. We both went to Head Start
It makes me sick to realize that the program is in significant financial trouble.

It's pennies on the dollar in comparison to other, much more destructive uses for the budget of the United States.

It's unfortunate that our electeds don't see children's futures as valuable as building yet another bomber or starting another war.
